Medicine and Dentistry

dentistryYour medical history is important before any dental procedures are instituted.
This is because:

Some underlying medical conditions like Diabetes contribute to the severity of certain dental diseases like periodontal disease.

These conditions also affect the outcome of dental treatments. For example post extraction healing might be prolonged in a patient with poorly controlled diabetes.

Special precautions may need to be instituted before dental procedures are performed and local anaesthetic agents are administered in some patients for example in cases of hypertension and bleeding disorders.

You may be allergic to some of the medications the dentist intends to prescribe.

Always inform the dentist if you have any underlying medical conditions like asthma, high blood pressure, diabetes, allergies, bleeding disorders, peptic ulcers, if you are pregnant, etc.

If you are not in good general condition before and/or during your dental procedure, inform the dentist immediately.

"I had this annoying on and off toothache for like six months but I also had this strong fear of the dentist. One of my friends who had been to Neptune dental clinic encouraged me to go there. The dentist told me the tooth was severely damaged and had to be removed, unfortunately. The dentist was very gentle and kept pausing to check whether I was okay. I was expecting a lot of pain but I was surprised. After the numbing injection at the beginning, I did not feel any pain during the extraction. Thank you Dr. Billy"
